Unfortunately, not every tooth is a healthy and functioning part of the oral system. Sometimes teeth need to be extracted due to severe breakdown or decay, fracture or infection. At our office, we perform many such extractions when it is determined that this is the best treatment option. We offer nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") to help relax you during the procedure and we can also provide you with some oral medication that can be taken prior to the procedure to further aid your comfort. Local anesthetic will be used to numb the area completely so that you will be comfortable throughout the entire treatment.
At our office, we do not put you to sleep for this procedure, so under most circumstances, you will be able to drive home on your own after treatment is complete. We will discuss post operative instructions (the "do's and don'ts) that will keep you comfortable during the healing process. We are very accessible to our patients and encourage everyone to call at any time if they are in need of assistance or advice after treatment.
If you are having a problem with a tooth and you are not sure if the tooth can be saved or may need to be extracted, please call our office right away. We keep priority appointments open for emergency patients every day so that we can be available when our patients need us. This aspect of our practice is very important to all of us. Our team makes sure that we are able to serve our patients when they need us most.
