Do you experience trouble chewing and swallowing, mouth sores, bad breath, cracked lips, a sticky or dry feeling in the mouth, cavities or a burning feeling in the mouth or a combination of these things? If so, you likely suffer from dry mouth, and you’re probably looking for ways to treat it. Our dentist, Dr. Jorgensen, is happy to help you by giving you the tips you need. You can relieve your dry mouth by doing the following things:

-Sip on water throughout the day
-Chew sugar-free gum regularly
-Limit your intake of caffeine
-Don’t smoke or use other tobacco products
-Don’t use mouthrinse that contains alcohol
-Try over-the-counter saliva substitutes
-Breathe through your nose more than your mouth

It’s very important to care for your teeth and gums when you have dry mouth. This is because you don’t have the saliva production you need to frequently wash your smile from bacteria and other harmful substances. So, make sure to brush twice a day, floss once a day, rinse daily and visit our dentist for a checkup every six months.
